In the past, type 2 diabetes was called adult-onset diabetes. It was usually found in older patients. However this kind of diabetes has also increasingly been found in children with heavier bodies. Most people with diabetes suffer type 2 diabetes. This disease is strongly influenced by lifestyle.
Type 2 diabetes results from defects in insulin secretion. In addition, it is caused by the development of insulin resistance. In other words type 2 diabetes which is the most common form of diabetes is characterized by disorders of insulin action and insulin secretion.
With the advent of technology people are physically becoming less active. They don't need to work harder in order to obtain food. With little effort, more food can be bought. For example, if two hundred years ago, a farmer could only process two hectares of land in one cultivation. Now, a farmer can plow, plant and harvest 200 hectares of land which can feed a small village. Everything can be done by only sitting on his tractor. Every manual task which a farmer should do has been replaced by modern machine.
In cities people have been living in sedentary lifestyle since they were born. They didn't go to school on foot when they were still children. They work in offices - typing and filing - which only burn little calories. After work they watch TV for three to four hours. And they frequently eat out in fast food restaurants. It is not surprising if they become overweight.
Tissues of overweight body is less sensitive to the effects of insulin due to the fat that exist along the blood tract. Glucose cannot easily enter the cells. Fat cells produce chemicals that make tissues resist the effects of insulin. After meals, glucose cannot be transported into the cells by insulin. As a result it continues to accumulate in the blood.
In order to reverse the situation, people with diabetes must change their lifestyle. They have to eat healthy food which contains more fiber and vitamins but less fat. To prevent more fat from being stored in the body, more physical activities have to be carried out. In other words they have to abandon their sedentary lifestyle. Instead of sitting on the sofa and watching TV, people who suffer diabetes should walk or jog regularly. They also need to measure and keep their blood sugar closer to normal level so that they can avoid complications that will be harmful heart, kidney, eyes, brain and nerve system.
By becoming more active, people with diabetes can live more productive life with less complications in their body.

Very true - physical activity is a key component to managing Type 2 diabetes.
Another key factor is diet. Adding fiber to your diet can help stabilize blood sugar, increase satiety helping with weight loss and help control cholesterol. High fiber foods, like Miracle Muffins

are a great way to increase the amount of fiber you consume while still enjoying it.
